Man shot and killed in North Richland Hills home: police

North Richland Hills – A man was shot and killed at his home in North Richland Hills on Wednesday night, police said.
The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in the 7300 block of Stonybrooke Drive.
North Richland Hills police responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.
Neighbors say they are still shaken up by the shooting.
Tracey Andrews said she was startled by the rapid sounds of gunshots.
“My husband thought it was about nine shots,” Andrews said.
A few minutes later, sirens blared down the street.
First responders found a man, identified as 52-year-old Brian Pence, who had been shot inside his home. Pence was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
“Especially the night before Thanksgiving, to lose someone like that it’s just, it’s awful,” Andrews said.
Neighbors pointed out several bullet holes in the home, including one that hit a window they say is in the bedroom where Pence was shot.
Andrews said the unclear circumstances surrounding the shooting are what worries her the most.
“We’re kind of freaked out right now, like oh my gosh, this could happen to us,” she said.
Police have not released much information on the shooting. Authorities said an update was coming Saturday night, but have since pushed that back to Sunday.
“We’re all going to be thinking about this for a long time,” Andrews said. “It’s part of our neighborhood.”
Andrews said she didn’t know her neighbor very well but they were always friendly.
“They were a nice family,” Andrews said. “Very peaceful. Kept to themselves. Very helpful with other people, so we’re kind of shook up that there’s somebody out there that did this.”
Neighbors said investigators were in the neighborhood on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Police have not released any suspect information.
